Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
An important representative commented the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
